Hubby and I have a few RIR layer hens. These girls are laying for us all through the winter. Good girls! We love our hens.
We also have a dairy cow for milk, a calf for the freezer, a couple of horses, three dogs, a cat and five parrots.
This summer we're adding to our feathered flock with some meat birds. Probably do 50-100 birds. Thinking about the Freedom Rangers instead of the Cornish X we did last summer. We are also going to raise a pig or two. We're really getting into the whole self sustainable way of life.
I'd also like to raise my own chicks. Will be looking for suggestions on broody hens and the whole "hatching" experience.
