Hi, My husband & I have decided to get back to having/raising chickens. We had chickens & ducks years ago, when our 2 girls were little. Now, with them grown, it'll give me a little something more to do, as we have 8 rabbits too & help with the food budget too. (a little...

) We also have 3 large dogs...as you can see in my sig., my oldest daughter (still at home, but has a full time job) takes care of them. They are to much for me. I have arthitis in my legs & any hard or fast movements are not something I can do & although they are all over 1 year old they still act like puppies. Not good when a grown Rottie is running at you & pounces. lol!!

We have a total of 22 chickens, right now, planning on more later. We have White Leghorns & White Plymouth Rocks. One is a rooster...and so cute! I believe the roo is a leghorn. We were supposed to get 13 WPR's females, 1 WPR male, 10 WL females & 1 WL male...we are missing 3...they were never shipped. We got them through Tractor Supply, contacted them about the missing chicks, they said they would have the shipped to us, but nothing has been done...we recvd. the 22 chicks 6/5.

They are doing great & so neat to interact with. Of course, our coop & run is not finished...but DH said he & his brother would get on it again when he got home later today...I said, okay!?!...I'm planning on building a bigger temporary run today. It will be made of the wire we have left from making rabbit cages. DH gathers them & put them up at night in a shed right now, I help by lifting & closing the lid on the tubs they are in over night. So they are secure in there over night & DH gets them out every morning before he goes to work.

We live on 5 acres in the country so we have enough space for everybody & everything. I say everything because DH is a mechanic...so of course we have a small parts yard...you never know when you'll need a replacement part...or scrap metal. This for our own purposes not a business. He is re-building a Jeep for a friend of the family right now...from the ground up. Our friend is in the military so he helps when he's home, but he hired DH to re-build it for him.

Anyway, that's us. I have been looking & reading for a couple days now on the board...so much helpful info & nice peep's here.

Looking forward to more.

Thanks!
