Hello Everyone,

My names Gretchen an I live in North Florida. I found this site a few days ago when my "Raising chickens for Dummies" book came in the mail. I was reading through and found your website listed in the book and thought to check it out, impressed at all the knowledgeable people here I decided to join today. I'm going to be buying some chicks (and maybe a duckling or 2) next week. e plan on getting 4 chickens, 2 Barred Rocks and 2 Road Island Reds. Right now the feed store is out of the Barred Rocks they had when I went to get feed and hay the other day, if they don't get any in soon I'll be getting 2 black Sex-links instead of the Barred Rocks. The feed store also has Pekin ducklings, which I really want to have some duck eggs around, but they don't know which are males and which are females. Does anyone know how to sex ducklings?

Currently We have 7 goats, 3 dogs, 3 birds ( 2 parakeets and 1 cockatiel), 1 cat, and 1 turtle. By we I mean My mom, dad, and I. I'm 18 and going to college to be a large/small/exotic animal vet. I have 1 brother who is almost 22 and who had 1 year old twin boys, they live in Kentucky. My sister is almost 26 and married, they live not very far from us (maybe 30 minutes tops).

I think that's about it, I'm looking forward to learning a lot of stuff from here, and be prepared for lots of questions lol

I love being a mommy to my animals, since motherhood for the human kind it's coming for a while (Vet School first) lol, the last time I had a "baby" was went my two parakeets, thought to be both females, had 2 babies, one died and the other is living happily with his dad( he is about 3 years old), mom was 8 when she passed a year ago.

Anyways back on topic lol I just know that next Thursday/Friday isn't going to come fast enough...

Gretchen
