Hi, everyone! My name is Jenny, I have a wonderful husband who loves being the handy man and having at projects, two kids a girl 9 and boy 3, two pet bunnies Baby and Buttercup, 2 dogs a coonhound named Coona and coonhound/lab named Murphy, and one cat named Shelby aka furball. I live near Sandusky, Michigan out in the country and just love my neighborhood. I love to read, garden, and in general spend time outdoors. I spend my time volunteering in my daughters school, being a member of the parent group for the school, and I am almost done with my BA in the Human Service field aka social work.
This is my first time being a member on a forum but I figured with all the useful info I was getting from just reading this forum that I should take the leap and become a member. Growing up I spent alot of my time at my Grandparents farm and my Grandma kept chickens so I got to be around them then but that was just to help Grandma collect eggs(they really were not pets).
Now I'm grown and have my own place and kids I can start making some of my dreams a reality like having a small flock of chickens. I just ordered my first batch of chickens about a month ago and I won't get them till the first week of June but that is given me amble time to prepare for them. I ordered 12 chickens in all: 4 Australorp, 4 Speckled Sussex, and 4 Partridge Cochin. I had done all my research on breeds before ordering and had really wanted to get Black Copper Maran chickens but I understand and have seen these chickens will be a little more challenging to get my hands on. My chicken coop and run are in process right now, I turning my 12x8 potting shed into the coop. Thanks to all the wonderful posts on this forum I feel I am fairly well prepared. I am looking forward to becoming an active member on this forum
