Hello all,
I'm pretty cut & paste illiterate (at least I can spell illiterate...)

I was introduced to chickens back in the '80s when I managed a feed store, but only ended up with 1 layer for a short period of time.
I now live in Dunsmuir, ca. and was offered 6 RIR 2 yr old layers about 6 months ago. Well, I'm down to 2, Lost the first one to a dropped uterus, 2nd 2 weeks ago to a chicken hawk, & the 3ed just yesterday to a loose neighborhood dog!

I've found lots of great info. & helpful folk here, so I figured I'd better sign up while I have a little indoor time due to weather.
I was ECSTATIC to find out about FG diatomaceous earth for parasites! I'm all into holistic nutrition & healing, & have used natural remedies for myself & other animals as well. (I used to do wildlife rehab....you know, those squirrels on crack....

When animals get better you KNOW there's no placebo affect. (I've also been in the pet industry 25+ years)
My philosophy is: God gave us EVERYTHING we need to take care of ourselves, we just need to be wise enough to listen to that still small voice...

I would like to especially find other people on this site that are geographically close to me.
I'm also looking for an INEXPENSIVE source for F.G. DE. I'ts 'dirt' cheep (sorry couldn't help myself) back east, I've found it for $15.00 per 50#. but here, it's close to $50.00, & I still have to have it shipped!

Any help with that would be appreciated!
Is anyone else using colloidal silver in the birds drinking water?
Looking forward to hearing from all you chicks:jumpy & eggheads soon!

I have used FG D.E. for multiple things regarding critter care and I have to get mine shipped (about $50). If I find any local at a better price, I will let you know!

from SoCal! As for DE...my best advice is call around to all the feed stores. I called around here (seemed like for hours!) and I finally found a store about 40 minutes away that carries it (for a good price too!). Also, ask if any of them can order it with their next order. $50 plus shipping is way too much!

There's got to be something cheaper!
