(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Not terribly new to chickens - have had them a couple years this spring!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently keep 10 chickens, but I need to re-home a rooster and I have two more coming from a friend who is moving so when things settle I should have 11!
(3) What breeds do you have?
1 Buff
1 EEgger
1 Wyandotte
1 Delaware
1 OEgger
3 Amberlinks
1 EE Backyard mix
1 EE Backyard mix Rooster
(2 from my friend that will be joining the flock soon are Buff backyard mixes)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I am wholly entertained by them daily. My neighbors enjoy them too and I think are as attached as we are! I love having fresh eggs and I never tire of watching them roam the yard.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I’m a teacher and have two teenagers so right now my hobbies are taking a backseat to just surviving the school year! When I do have downtime I like to sew, read, do Yoga/jog, and I’d love to add a greenhouse and garden soon.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
See above. Also I have a dog and a cat and someday I’d love goats but for now just the girls and the house pets! I do have an Instagram for my chickens if you want to follow it. Look for gregschicks and it should pop up!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I have used this site as a resource since before I started keeping chickens and I finally decided I should be more of a participant instead of a lurker.
