Hi There! I sort of did this out of order as I posted a thread about advice on building a duck run.

Someone dropped off several ducklings at my parent's house (not uncommon - they have an acre lake on their property and people think, "oh! Ducks like lakes lets leave them here") but this time they dropped off 3 Pekins and a brown duck. Usually, with the wild mallards, we just help raise them and let them free when they are ready, but these are clearly ducks meant to be kept.

My boyfriend loves duck eggs so we thought we would keep them.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
no chickens, new to ducks

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
it was 4, but something got to one of the ducklings before I could build the run :(:hit

(3) What breeds do you have?
It seems to be 2 Pekins and a brown duck of some kind

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
google looking for advice

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Horseback riding, gardening etc

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm actually an event planner, but I originally went to school for pre-vet, specifically equine studies. I live in Baltimore and work in DC. I own one horse, an Irish Sport Horse named Monte I got for free:love

G’Day from down under cjdurand :frow Welcome!

I know nothing about ducks except that they sure are cute! :love

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share more pictures and stories, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
