Wanted to say hello and say I'm glad I found this site. I have four flock members at this time, all girls. I have one silver penciled wyndotte that has been here since November. She just showed up one evening before dark and roosted on our front porch. I never could find out where she came from, but she stayed around for a few weeks just free ranging and would roost on the porch every night. I didn't mind her staying around, but the mess on the porch was a bit much. Then one day a couple of neighborhood dogs got after her and would have probably killed her if I hadn't been around. So I made her a makeshift shelter out of some scrap wood I had around and put her up. She started laying about six weeks ago. I've been thinking about getting some chickens for the past year or so. She just made my mind up for me. lol. I recently got a better coop and decided she needed some company. I bought three gold comets that were eighteen weeks old at the time. One of them just started laying the other day at twenty weeks. I have some questions to ask that I will be posting in the future as I get time. I have already learned a lot just by reading other peoples threads.
and Welcome To BYC! Your Wyandotte is one lucky girl!
