I am a native to SE Florida and have had chickens for many, many, years. My difficulty is that I have a small flock of bantam chickens in a breed that is extremely endangered . Due to my deteriorating health, and the fact that my adult son with an autism spectrum disorder has regressed to the point he cannot be counted on for their care, they need another home where someone who understands their value and importance will breed them so that they won't be lost to the world!!! I have been unable to find somebody willing to take that responsibility locally. I hope some one here can help. It took me 14 years to find and get them in the first place, but health problems just can't always be predicted ahead of times, and after working so long to find and get them, I have only been able to enjoy them for a short while.

    Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! I'm sorry to hear about you not being able to care for your birds any longer, that really is such a shame. We have a great buy sell trade section that you could post in. If yah are free rehoming them you do t need to 20 posts to place them there but you need the 20 posts to place a classified ad. Please do pop by and check out the rules for that section ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/67/buy-sell-trade

    Good luck :fl

Nice to meet you Laura, maybe if you posted on a thread for your particular breed you would find someone suitable.

    Thanks for the welcome everyone,
My special birds are BANTAM mottled Houdans. The fact that they are not good layers, do not sit and the ones I have anyway produce a strong majority of males, makes preserving this breed that much more difficult. I hatched them from eggs of 3 different sellers on eBay. They are now 1-3 years old. A couple of them have minor problems, that do not seem to bother them and are not contagious or genetic, I guess they are from mild injuries from interactions with one another. There are 4 cocks, and 5 hens. One of the hens is just barely a year. I don't need $ for them, I just want them to have someone who will try their best to care for them and try to increase and distribute the breed so there is less chance of its extinction. They would also need to cover the cost of shipment or come pick them up. Thanx, petlove
