I'm Belynda and I found a stray chicken about a 2 months ago. Found her? Owners and they didn't want her back and wanted all his chickens gone so we kept her until my MIL could take it last weekend. They introduced 4 other chickens and yesterday she came back to my house after the other chickens attacked her. I hope to learn a lot about chicken care.

Welcome!

It sounds like you have a keeper. Do you have a coop and run for her or is she a house chicken?

If she is a house chicken, you might be interested in this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/299187/people-with-house-chickens

Best wishes to you and your girl.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your girl, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Thank you. I'd love to have her in the house but the dog would kill her. I don't have a coop yet since this wasn't planned but I've been shopping. She's in a dog crate and I've been letting her out daily.

Hi Belynda and welcome to BYC. I'd strongly suggest getting hold of a couple more chickens of roughly the same age, once you have built your coop. Chickens are social animals and thrive in their own company.

Best wishes
