Hello! New to chickens

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Yes, I'm new to chickens. We have neighbors who have too many and need to get rid of a couple ASAP. We've been thinking about it for awhile so decided to go for it. We may get them as soon as tomorrow. (If we can find enough building material to slap together a shelter for them. A fancy coop will have to come later.)

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? We'll be picking up at least two tomorrow and plan to have no more than four.

(3) What breeds do you have? I have no idea. When Americans here want to raise chickens, we run down to the butcher and buy whatever they have live.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Google search on how to build chicken coops.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Running, reading, sewing, baking, gluten-free foods, hiking, travel

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My husband and I are Americans who live in Bujumbura, Burundi. I grew up with a lot of animals but right now we are down to one cat. I'd like to add some outside pets to our large yard. Chickens also help keep snakes away.
