Hello, new to chickens.

I hadn't heard that you could use parrot food! Also I'm wondering whether or not you're vaccinating your chicks? I don't know much about as I'm very new to this myself but I have seen on the hatchery websites where they will vaccinate them before they send then to you.

I didn't know they need to have vacinations. Now I'm wondering too Would a Avian Veterinarian know what shots to give?.

Well according to the food list all the same foods I feed the parrots is on the list, so that's what I been giving them only ground pretty fine. The formula, It's very little amount. That too is safe for them I looked it up before fixing it for them.

Thank you for the vaccination information, I will talk to my avian vet about this and will make sure they recieve what they need.

There is a lot of debate about vaccinations in small poultry flocks. Mareks is usually given at the hatchery since it should be given in the first day or so, some people do give it later. One big problems is most vaccines are sold in 1000+ dose vials and there are a lot of potential vaccines to give. I, personally do vaccinate for Mareks (have it given at the hatchery or vaccinate them myself if I hatched or the hatchery will not) since it is known to be a problem in this area. This is a nice article from the University of Florida that discuses it.
