It is amazing how chickens can decimate an area isn't it, they rival goats in that ability. The Chickens will surely enjoy the extra roaches they can catch, the only thing I can really see with removing laying hens from the roosts at night is that a lot of egg problems list "disturbances & frights" as a possible cause, so might keep an eye out for changes in the eggs.
