Hello!

My wife and I bought five baby Rhode Island Reds to raise for eggs and companionship. They are now about 4 weeks old and we're having a blast! We've found this site to be very helpful in answering general questions.

Since we've been 'stalking' backyardchickens.com for a while now, we thought it'd be nice to introduce ourselves.

If anyone has tips on raising chickens for newbies, we'd love to hear them!

Thanks!

Thank you! I've been reading this site for about three weeks now, just signed up yesterday though. There is SOOOOOOO much information to take in. The biggest question I have is about the sex of my chickens. There are about 4 million (exaggerating!) pages on how to tell the sex and i still have no clue. lol

from the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. Glad you decided to spend some time with us. Most of us are madly in love with our chicken hobby.

Where can I find info about how big to make my coop for my chickens? It is best to make it up off the ground or would they do better to be on the ground?
