Hi My name is Janet. I live on the east coast of North Carolina close to the Virginia/NC border. I am from West Virginia where chickens were our sourceof eggs and meat, so therefore I never let myself get to attached to our perspective Sunday dinner! I have always been around chickens but never was the one responsible for their care. I am looking forward to learning as much as I can, I am now the owner of 4 beautiful chickens (hopefully hens)! I plan on getting the eggs but they will not be my dinner!!

one california white....one barred rock.....2 we think brahmas and thx I am sure I will have a lot of questions!
 
I'm sure your chickens are thrilled to know they won't be dinner.

Buff Orpingtons are a very popular breed of chicken, good layers, good temperament and beautiful as well.

I have a couple of bantam sized orpingtons in buff and black. They have both been mothers and have raised chicks together too.
They are very sweet lap chickens and very beautiful. I would deffo recommend them.
