Hello!!! I have been gone awhile and am back so I thought I would reintroduce myself. I live in the Mountains of Arizona with my husband and son. We until last year had never owned chickens. We got a small flock of Bielefelders from Cackle last year (lost a hen and rooster within the first week) but we had 6 hens make it and a friend of ours raises bielefelders so she gave us a rooster that was hatched a week after ours. things went well and them my husband got sick and we had to go to a hospital 5 hours away and we ended up rehoming our flock to our friend (they are doing great and just started laying about 3 weeks ago). So now we are ready to try again and just put an order in to Cackle for a 03/27/23 hatch date so should get them on my birthday (last years flock hatched on my Birthday) . We got all bantam varieties 5 barred rocks, 5 Rhode Island reds and 6 easter eggers. We shall see how this year goes but very much looking forward to this year. We are also thinking of raising quail also.
