Here is more about the chicken I serve daily. She is a very friendly Buff Cochin!

Yes so far she is an only hen. I did build the coop for three more occupants. I was originally looking for an Orpington but was drawn to this Cochin instead. She sees us all the time and like to sit on the lap of anyone who sits in the chairs out back. Maybe we will get her some company in the near future.

Welcome, noshoes and Pot Pie!!!
What neat videos and congrats on the first egg! Pot Pie sure looks proud of herself!

Hi Noshoes! Welcome to the forum. I have a Potpie, too!

She's a BLRW... just as fat and just as sassy. I also have Buff Cochin and I just love her to death (her name is Shelby, aka Baby ChickenHawk).
I bet your Pot Pie would love another hen to run around with. The only thing better than one pet chicken is two (or two hundred)!

Does having more than one hen make them less affectionate? I have only had more than one chicken a long time ago and they were Plymouth Rocks. They were skittish. I had a white silky all by herself for seven years and she was sweet like Pot Pie is.

I think the BRs from the hatcheries are more skittish. I've just noticed that by reading on here and talking to people. You can get a nice grown hen from a breeder and won't have a problem.
