Hi, my name is Traci. I’m 50 years old and an empty nester :wee

I have 2 dogs. A beautiful mutt named Scout and a beautiful Golden Retriever named Bailey Rose.
I live in the Boise area of Idaho.

I’m not “new” to chickens. I was raised with them. But I haven’t had them as an adult. My neighbor has chickens, my mom’s neighbor has chickens, my uncle breeds and sells silkies and polish... Dr Seuss babies IoI.

I figured I’d try ducks. They seem challenging IoI.

I’m incubating duck eggs. I have been voraciously studying all things duck. The little things are progressing well and should be pipping any day. They have just started wiggling and rocking.

I am currently looking for a bigger piece of land. I could move anywhere (for the first time since I was 18) literally

any.where. I’m currently a stay at home mom, with no kids at home.

I very much want a hobby farm. I’m an avid gardener and crafty person. Love doing things like fermenting foods and baking, canning. All animals.

I have 4 grown kids that I hatched and raised. And one grand daughter that is 3 months old.

Anyway thanks for having me. I have already learned so much. This is an amazing resource. Such a gift.

Attached is a photo of one of my duckings little baby paddles. I think this was around day 14 or 16. I’m so excited. I just sit and stare. Like a kid. Waiting for Christmas.

Hi Traci, and welcome to BYC!

Judging by your picture, the empty nest will soon be filled with cute fluffy ducklings. Good luck with your hatch and let us participate!
