I joined last year but never introduced myself. I'm Stacey from California, my husband and I have been raising chickens for a year now and just added some ducklings and chicks to our flock. We have 5 amber whites that are fully grown, amazing egg layers, and the others are gray and black chickees, I don't know what kind they are but they are cute and friendly. I love our duckies but we lost one last night, it was attacked. Hoping to learn a lot here and find out how to take better care of our flock!

Still trying to figure that out. Not sure if it was one of our grown chickens or something else. One of our chickens was bloody and injured too, but none of the baby chicks. You'd think a chick would be harmed before the big birds!?

Hi Stacey and welcome (formally). I agree that a predator would be most likely to attack the chicks first - easiest meal (even if it might just be a starter)
