My husband and I just got our flock going in September as we had moved to an area where we can have them. My grandma had chickens so I was familiar with them while my husband had ducks before so he kind of knew some things about keeping poultry!

We have many different breeds like polish, silkies, black copper mayans, barred rocks, Dominique, RIR and several others.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Well I love the birds but I also love being able to provide for ourselves. I absolutely love their personalities though!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love my animals I have several fish tanks and I recently got into watercolors.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Well i am a newly wed so this my husband, 2 dogs, 2 cats, my flock of chickens and ducks and geese and pheasants and Guinea hens, also we have rabbits, fish tanks, and a parakeet to top it off.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found it on Facebook first then through question searching on the internet. I joined to be able to talk about my feathered friends and ask questions!

(1) My husband and I started our first chicken coop last spring; we only have a little backyard coop.
(2)/(3) 7 birds: Bertha and Nutmeg are Americanas, Ginger is a Wellsummer, Snowball is a Light Brahma, Dumb and Dumber are Dominiques and Elvis is a bantam Cochin rooster.
(4) I also love the birds’ personalities; Bertha is a fussbudget, Snowball is totally laid back, Dumber is always complaining about something. And I love all the different colors of eggs (DELICIOUS eggs) I get!
(5) I also love reading, I’m a huge Stephen King fan, and I love the outdoors - gardening, camping, fishing, all that good stuff - come on, Spring!!
(6) I live in the Hudson Valley in NY with my husband, 19- and 21-year-old boys and two ten-month-old rescue pups, Bruno and Arya. I work from home as a Quality Management Systems consultant - don’t ask! LOL!
(7) I think I was searching the internet and came across BackyardChickens accidentally, but I’m glad I did!
