Hi! My name is Poppy and I've joined this website so I can ask questions and queries about my chickens and rooster more directly, to people who have experience and know their stuff!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens! We hatched our roo this time last year (he was the only one that hatched so we just had to keep him) and bought our hens (as chicks) sooner after. So far so good
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have 1 roo and 3 hens. He treats his girls with a lot of respect and havent had any problems with our girls fighting or getting injured!
(3) What breeds do you have?
My Roo is a Plymouth Rock (we think). My hens are a Black copper, a Cuckoo maran and a Bluebell
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Seeing how much character they have! My roo is a gentlemen most of the time and even if he pecks me I don't get mad, my girls are very sweet tho and usually try to hop on my lap whenever they get the chance for cuddles (however the do tend to get my trousers quite dirty
)
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I own horses so I'm used to cleaning out animals etc. Looking after chickens is quite similar to the yard work I have to do-
