Hello all! I am brand new and want to do this right, so I’m going to start with the questionnaire.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am brand new to all of this. Its a fascinating world!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I don't currently have any chickens. I am (maybe?) a bit ahead of the curve as my chickens won't be a reality until at least this time next year. I am trying to get ahead of things so I can be ready to hit the ground running when that time comes.
(3) What breeds do you have?

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I have a few years under my belt of a vegetable garden to supplement my eating habits and want to add and expand it. A good way to do that (for many reasons I have learned recently) is to expand to having chickens to increase my self-sufficiency. My wife and I love eggs and so to have a fresh supply of them would be wonderful. I also like the thought of my kids (don't have any yet) growing up with an animal, in addition to a dog, to expand their minds and that experience.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I own my own photography business, so I enjoy taking pictures; but also Hiking, Exploring, Games (board/video/card, etc), Cooking, Gardening, & Reading.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My day job is Accounting stuff for a small company. I am working on getting a second degree in this field to forward my career and opportunities. I also own my own photography business.
My wife and I have been married for almost 5 months (basically forever!
). We will be moving (why I am holding off in regards to getting chickens) at the beginning of 2020 because she currently applying to Physician Assisting School (Masters Degree). We don't know where she will be accepted, so we have to figure that out before we have a solid idea of where we will end up.
I have a 5.5 yr old Black Lab. My wife and I are both coming up on being 30 yrs old. We are both excited to learn and are looking forward to what the future holds!
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found the community/forum via google. After finding answers to multiple questions I have had, answered by this group, I decided that I might as well dive in and have help learning instead of trying to learn it all on my own.
