Welcome. Good choice with the Momma heating pad. I would make sure the chicks cannot get their head stuck. Also, as many of us have learned the hard way, if you have not purchased a coop yet, don't buy a premanufactured. They are all too small, poorly ventilated and most not walk-in. If we cannot build, most of us convert sheds, and add ventilation above the roosting bars. Going big with your coop and run solves so many issues. For predator security, use 1/2 inch hardware cloth.
