Complete novice that enjoys a variety of hens in the yard. Wife fells I'm sometimes consumed by my girls. I enjoy the fresh eggs and find it relaxing to simply watch the ladies...yes, a little crazy! Look forward to the information and friendship!

I think we all like watching our chickens, it is so much fun!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Best of luck with your flock!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Which part of east Texas are you in? My wife and I were both raised in east Texas. If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is loads of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Maybe you could entice your wife to sit out with popcorn and liquid refreshment and enjoy "Chicken TV." New shows every day, no reruns, no cable or satellite bills, what's not to like? Glad you joined us at Backyard chickens.

Lol...I got her a couple of African Geese so she is coming around a bit. Cold beer always does the trick...haha!

Is that a speckled sussex in your avatar? I have one of them. She is so spunky, curious and friendly. Sussex chickens are sure pretty too! I can't get over their lovely patterns!

I know, they are so beautiful!

I had a real quick question. Is it normal for a month old Speckled Sussex chick to be this color?

Her name is Captain and she is around a month old in this photo (she is looking at the camera, the one with the white chest)

This is her around three weeks of age, again, showing a white chest.
