Hope everyone is doing well, been looking through a lot of the knowledge/content within the forum and look forward to being able to interact and hopefully provide personal insight as well! I'll start my introduction below as laid out in the instructions!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I grew up with chickens/ducks/geese, I honestly can't remember a time my family didn't have them!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 20
(3) What breeds do you have? Buff Orp, Lavender Orp, Copper Maran, Olive Egger,
Ameraucana, Barred Rock, Rhode Island Red, Red Sexlink, Silver Laced Wyandotte
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? My children being able to experience raising our own food, and the responsibility it shows them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Hunting, Fishing, Gardening
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. My wife and I have 2 children, Girl - 11 / Boy - 8. Aside from our chickens we have a Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix named Kiva, a cat named Nermal, and an African Goose that lives with the chickens. My wife is a dental technician and I'm currently in the United States Marine Corps. I grew up in a mostly Commercial Watermen and Farming town on the Eastern Shore of MD right against the Chesapeake. My wife grew up near Decatur, AL. We currently own 10 acres in Eastern NC.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? Through Google, basically my number one forum to search through to see what/how other folks are raising there flocks!!
