Just wanted to say "Hey" to all of you chicken folk out this way. I am waiting for my first chicks to arrive and going crazy looking into my empty brooder.

Howdy! We are in Granby. I have gone to the TSC in Belchertown seems like twice per week looking at those little cuties peeping away. I ordered 3 Buff Orp's and 3 Black Australorps from our feed store here in town.

LOL! Yeah I went there a few time myself just to look at them. Now my neighbor down the street bought some too.

I found an affordable source for flight top netting, to cover your run with-if you need it. With shipping, it ended up being 1/2 of what I had priced elsewhere. Let me know.

I am in Central MA. Klems in East Brookfield said they will be getting Marans and Welsummers in early May and easter eggers in late may.

Thanks I will be needing some soon. We have some Red Tail hawks in our area and they are always out looking for a meal. Good news is the people across the street from us have had chickens for years and never lost one to hawks.

In my area I have seen Turkey Vultures for the first time this year. They seem to have a home nearby as, I see about 3-4 a day flying over my house or roosting on my neighbors chimney. I have also seen an increase in hawks here myself, this is why I researched the flight top netting.

I asked Tractor Supply to order it but they either cant be bothered or dont have a way of getting it. Regardless, I still stop by for their chicks

I went to the Tractor Supply in Belchertown yesterday. They are just about out of birds for the "Chick Days". I got 6 Rhode Island Reds for $1.00 ea! I just love that store..........

On a side note, I was talking with one of the employees there and they said that they get their birds from "MT. Healthy" and said they were very happy with them. All lively and hardy birds. Very low death rate. They also said that they sold almost 2,600 birds this year!!
