hello where in western washington can u buy and sell teenage chickens?

Hi Tailfeathers and Drafthorsegal =] I am currently located in Mossyrock and will be moving to Yelm soon. I just joined BYC today and I'm hooked! Thanks for the info on the auction, I'll be attending the one in August, thanks to you

My dad was a horse logger so I love draft horses as well! Donkeys or honkeydonks (as I call them) have always been one of my favorites

they are sooo adorable. Well...hope to see you both on the boards!

Thanks for the info on the auction. I am in Hoquiam, so not much of a drive for me to go to the auction. I like to go to Rochester to VJ's (Low cost home remodelling and mobile home stuff) and then stop in at the 2 Old Crows and a Hen BBQ place in Oakville for lunch. Sounds like a road trip in my future!!!! I can pick up stuff for my soon to be Hen House, catch the local animal show and fill up on Pulled pork, black eyed peas and collard greens. Yummy!!!

bty, the BBQ is on the main drag through town, on the right travelling from Rochester. And VJ's is just off of I-5 at the hwy12 exit. http://www.vjsbargainbarn.com/ for directions.

I hope to see you at the auction!

(added later) LOVE the idea of a western Wa BYC group!

Bargains, chickens, BBQ? Sounds like a perfect Saturday to me.
(And as a transplanted Southerner, would be great to have some black eyed peas and collards!)

A Western WA group would be great! (I'm in Seattle)

I also vote for craigslist, I got my girls as pullets from a local guy with an ad on craigslist. First I went to see if his birds looked healthy and well cared for - before I committed to buying. Even though baby chicks are darling, I was a bit nervous about the idea of raising them from that stage.

So I brought my pullets home the very end of February and had our first eggs by early May....and they keep on laying and laying! I had no idea 8 little hens would be such good little producers.

I also noticed here on the Washingtonian BYC thread some of the members will post poultry they have for sale or trade, and some of them also do the poultry shows. I would post your question there and see if they have any ideas for you. They are a very friendly group of folks.
