Hi there! I'm Chloe and I've always loved chickens. I think my opsession started one year at Tractor Supply when I was little, the baby chicks were there and I've been wanting them ever since. Long story short, my parents had to drag me out while I was sobbing.
I think once my parents finally met some up close and personal this last year at a 4H petting zoo, they were kinda smitten with the personalities of them. It took some work, but we convinced them to let us get some chickens!
For a few months now we have been building a coop and setting up everything else we need. We are building a retaining wall to backfill so that the chickens have a nice flat area to live on, finishing up the coop, and, most importantly, preparing for chicks! We set the date to go get our chicks last friday, but our store did not have bantam pullets (we live in the city, so roosters are hard to keep, and bantams will have the most adequate space here). I've been calling the store so much to see if they have them in that they probably have my number memorized already! We are getting them either tomorrow night or the day after!
I also really enjoy gardening, and have plans to move somewhere where I can have a large garden and all sorts of animals. Dogs are my favorites, but I'm sure it won't be too hard for the chickens to take that spot.
Aside from chickens and plants, I enjoy all things artistic, namely crochet and ceramics. I love mac and cheese, ice cream (yum), and dole whip. At my school I'm taking my 3rd year of American Sign Language and I am on the robotics team. After school I'm usually doing homework and jamming out to the Beach Boys or Queen
. I also love volunteering at our local environmental camp, thats how I spend most of my summer! My interests are all across the board, but I find that I usually have something in common with every one I meet!
Anyway, I'm very excited to own chickens (or have chickens own me? I'm sure thats probably how it will end up), and any advice or tips would be very much appreciated!
