- Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- Yes, I am new to having chickens. I grew up in Iowa so I had been around them but I never lived on a farm. My husband and I got chickens at the beginning of the month.
- How many chickens do you have right now?
- 8 hens and 1 roster
- What breeds do you have?
- Hens are Red Star and we don't know for the roster.
- What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- They are supper cute (I've always wanted chickens), they are taking care of the weeds in our backyard, I like feeding worms to them.
- What are some of your other hobbies?
- My husband and I like watching movies, we are big outdoors people, I love to cook, and we are vegan (will take any questions on why we are vegan and have chickens).
- Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
- It's just me and my husband with two dogs. He is in the IT world and I am a teacher; we live in Chicago
- Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
- I heard about BYC through a student I mentored in 2013 and remembered her suggestion this year.
