My husband and I bought our chicks on march 28 2815 to start a small homestead here in central Massachusetts. The 6 red stars were 2 days old. the next day I bought 4 black stars and 2 BOs a day younger than the reds. today we got our first egg, I don't know if I can bring myself to eat our first one!
) Black and Red Sex Links (Black and Red Stars) are laying machines and you're going to get loads more eggs with those 10 girls. Black Sex Links (Black Stars) are my personal favorites as they are very friendly and hardy. I've raised Black Stars for years (Red Stars and BOs as well) and my Black Stars have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 large, brown eggs per hen per year. I've been especially impressed with their persistence in laying in really cold winter weather over the years. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have.
