Hi!

I have four chickens

and one of them (Sussex) right now is acting really strange. She is leaning against the side of the coop and closing her eyes. What is happening? at the begginning we thought that it might be that because they just started laying about a week ago but why is it happenning now???????

Please help! i'm worried about her

Could she just be sunbathing herself? Chickens will do that against a building or solid object. If the sun is out they will look sleepy and lethargic and just lay down on their sides to sun themselves.

If you go to pick her up or bring some treats, will she get up or does she keep laying there??

Sounds to me like she is just sunbathing. Is this similar to what she looks like?

When they sunbathe, they stretch out on the ground or lean up against something and sometimes close their eyes.

Is she going about her usual daily routine, eating, drinking, mingling with other chickens, pooping etc. In that case she is probably fine. I think most animals love to take advantage of being in the sun spot, unless it is horribly hot and humid out.
