I am new here and also a new chicken owner! We are new owners to 2 rhode island reds and 1 black australop that my children lovingly named: Max, Ruby, and Beauty. They are one year old laying hens we took from a friend who is downsizing. We have had them for two weeks and they just started laying again a few days ago since their move. They were laying two eggs per hen per day previously and we have gotten 4 eggs total in the last 3 days. We are enjoying it so far and it is funny how quickly you become obsessed with these birds!

Welcome to Backyard chickens, glad you joined the flock. How nice that you got laying hens to start with and don't have to worry about them turning into roosters.
