Hi every one,
I am a first time chicken owner with high hopes of many eggs and healthy chicks. I have 6 R.I reds all hens don't want to deal with a rooster yet. They are about 6 months old but no eggs yet.
I'll get some pics up soon to see if I am doing anything wrong looking forward to your help in raising my chicks...

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! Hope you start getting eggs soon, we will be waiting for the pictures of your flock!

Take a look at the Home page...Rhode Island Red's are the current breed focus! We have had 2 in our mixed flock (currently have just 1) and they are wonderful chickens. I hope you get some eggs soon. Are they showing signs that laying is close?

Thanks for joining us!

One egg or one hen ??? Hen's usually lay in the morning. Spend their nights on the roost. You can put a golf ball or two in the nest boxes to show them where eggs should be laid.

Welcome to the BYC flock! We are glad you joined us!

Sometimes it can take a little longer for some breeds to get going and sometimes some chickens just take a little longer and sometimes this time of year can also impact when they start to lay. Hopefully you will not have much longer to wait.
