I'm "Remuda" (means a group of horses from which one picks a mount). Although my remuda has gone down from 22 to 7 now! I've had chickens in the past, up to 250 of them but now that the kids are grown I have more time so I got more chickens. Right now I've got 11 Golden Comet chicks in a brooder waiting for my new (to me) chicken house to be delivered. I'd really like to get some Blue Laced Red Wyandottes this spring, and Silkies in the future. I hope the chicken math doesn't kick in too hard because my new coop is going to be much smaller than my last one.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Golden Comet is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links and they are laying machines. You should get loads of large brown eggs from those 11 girls.) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Hi Remuda and a warm welcome to BYC! Since you have had chickens in the past, I am sure that you will be able to offer some good advice to other members as well as learn a little along the way. I think we all know what you mean about chicken maths - the achilles heal of every chicken keeper. You can always get another coop in the future - I'm sure you will be able to justify it to yourself!
