I am happy to find a place for more information on chickens. I have been keeping and raising chickens for 8 years now. I have several breeds in my flock as I have yet to find a favorite. Currently I have 33 in the coop and 10 chicks still hanging out in the garage. We had a great hatching year with 5 of my hens hatching 55 healthy chicks, no incubators around here. lol.. looking forward to learning more here.

Sounds like you have a lot of experience and should be giving advice. Congratulations on all your successful hatches! We had 4 hens and a rooster for a year (all production reds, sold as RIRs) and one of the hens was a feather picker that we just couldn't break her of the habit. Finally gave her away to a nice woman with a large flock who said she didn't think her hens would put up with that. Just recently got 5 more pullets of 5 different breeds and love looking at all the different colors, along with all the cute baby activity.

    Glad you joined BYC. [IMG]

Hello there and welcome to BYC! [IMG]

Wow, you sure do have the chickens! They must keep you quite busy. Congrats on the broody hatches! Chicks are so much healthier being hatched and raised in a natural environment vs an incubator. Nothing cuter than a broody and her baby too!!

Well, pull up a roost bar, ask any questions you may have and we do welcome you to our roost! :)
