I'm a newbie here. Been around chickens for a while now. My 16yr old daughter has her own flock, I am just a helper to her for now. One day when we have more land I hope to have my own since she'll be taking hers when she moves away. I am looking forward to learning as much as I can. I hope to have a self sustainable homestead soon. My home schooled children love hands on learning.

In my opinion one of the best things you can do for a kid (or teen) is let them keep their own flock of poultry! It gives them a good sense of responsibility and a fun hobby to keep them out of trouble... best thing my parents did for me growing up was get me chickens.
