Hello, I just learned about this site recently and have been poking around a bit.

My wife and I have just ordered four birds that we'll be picking up March 11 and I've been busy building a coop over the last few weekends.

We recently bought a small house on 13 acres in Candler, NC and have been wanting to get chickens for quite some time now we have the space to do it.

We're getting an Ameraucana' an Australorp, a Maran, and a Silver Wyandotte.

Welcome!

The coop is looking good! Best wishes to you and your new feathered family when they arrive; nice mix you are getting.

I recommend a visit to the Learning Centre; lots of good tips there: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center.

You might want to say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun. Unlike non chicken loving friends, family and colleagues, BYC’ers never tire of stories or pictures that feature our feathered and non feathered friends

Hi and welcome to BYC - great job on the coop. It will be good practice for the next, much larger one that you build next year

I hope that you enjoy your impending dabble in keeping chickens.
