Welcome!

You might want to also pop in and say hello on your local thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/26/where-am-i-where-are-you ‘Find your State’s thread.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

I got 10 chickens about a year and a half ago. Then I got 10 more about 6 months ago but one day they were let out of their cage when nobody was home and my dog killed them.

I just ordered 15 but they have been having a lot of health issues.

Right now I have 5 Hens and 11 chicks.

Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington, Golden Comet, Cinnamon Queen and Rhode Island Whites.

By the way, the quote you have on your page ('Until One Has Loved An Animal, Part Of Their Soul Remains Unawakened') is beautiful. So true.

So sorry to hear you lost all your chickens to your dog. I lost my pet Australorp to a hawk last November and it about broke my heart.

They are pretty. One has some feathers on her legs and five toes, but the other has no feathers on her legs and four toes. Both are great layers.
