Hello everyone, hope all are doing well today.
Grew up on a small ranch, but we never had chickens, had almost every other type of animal, but no chickens. Think my parents tried a few times and hawks, coyotes or any other predator would kill them all.
Decided to raise some of our own, for eggs mainly, meat as well, those that are roosters.
Me and my husband had gotten about 37 chicks at a local auction, 28 have made it 3 weeks today. They are in what was a rabbit hutch, it is off the ground. The hutch is maybe 6' long, 2.5' tall and 1.5' long, those are approximate of course. From the ground to the bottom of the hutch it is about 2.5 feet. We had already made a ramp for the rabbits to use. My question would be how soon can I open the door and let them roam? My worry is them not being able to figure out where the ramp is. I have a 20x20 run that is covered. I also have a rooster, I know I would have to keep him away from them until they are way older.
Any thoughts, suggestions would be great!
