You could get both!

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your doves or chickens when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

What is it you want from chickens or doves? Chickens can give you eggs. I'm guessing if you got doves maybe you would want to breed & show them. In any case, why not just have both?

I'd get eggs from this chickens but other than that either would just be pets.
