1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I have had chickens for 8 years now.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? mid 30's

(3) What breeds do you have? I mostly keep bantams but there are a few larger birds thrown in too.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I was a very active member on poultry one forum but I think it might be sort of dead now. When I decided to rejoin a chicken forum I went with this one.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I keep exotic animals and am the vice president of our local reptile club, and I also love horses.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I have a bunch of other pets, including a 4 and a half foot lizard called a Tegu. :)

At my old house I was able to have a roo and here I have difficult neighbors, so I have a house rooster and a few baby cockerels who are about to move indoors to join Boss (the origin of my username is from little Boss the silver sebright).

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! Great intro there and your reptiles sound very interesting too, not really my cup of T but I don't mind looking at them :)

You have good sized flock there, I too mainly keep bantams (polish) I love their little characters.

Good luck for the future and enjoy your time here on BYC :frow

Polish are so wonderful. My favorite hen just passed at 8 years (turns out I've had them 9...can't count lol) and she was a standard polish. Best hen in the world. Special needs and when I said her name she would stop and wait for me to come and pick her up..I miss her. I have a few bantam babies though, growing up into cuties but I haven't really bonded like that with any. It's been my house roo Boss who has become my closest companion since Victoria went.

I also keep a lot of cochins and silkies. They are some of the best! Want to get serious about Serama breeding and showing one day too, haven't got any yet. And a few randoms that I really like, mille fleurs, japanese bantams, my sebright (house roo)....I have a lot of chickens

You may enjoy the thread "people with house chickens." My friend has had chickens for over 25 years all as house chickens. She has had a variety of breeds but mostly silkies and currently has 2 matronly serama hens and one silkie girl.
