My name is Geri and my family and I are from Clinton, MO. As I child, my mother raised chickens, and of course, made it look easy. In March of this year, I talked the husband into getting "a couple" of chickens. We bought a premade coop, raised them up, and moved them out when the weather got warm enough. In less than 30 minutes, our dogs got through the wire mesh and the chickens were gone. Determined, we got new babies to raise and started on reinforcing the coop. With some help from my dad, we got some livestock panels and put chicken wire over them. We've been waiting (impatiently) for eggs. We have 10 now and were getting anxious, until this morning. Went out to feed them and there were 2 eggs! We are so excited! I have had to butcher one and that was defintely an experience, but I kept telling myself that is partially why we got them. So excited to be on this adventure and that I'm able to share it with my son so that hopefully, when he is older, he can have his own byc experiences. Sorry this is a bit long-winded, lol.
