My husband & I have 1 old Rhode Island Red hen named "lucky Penny" because she was abandoned on our property in Maine. We then started our new hen house and now have a Beautiful Golden Comet rooster & three more Golden Comet hens. My husband has built a coop & yard from trial & error and our flock seems content. Our biggest concern is "Lucky Penny", she hasn't layed an egg in a long time although she seems healthy & happy.

How old is your chicken? She may be retiring from laying,chickens do that when they get older.She is very pretty and does not look to be molting.

Nice looking RiR. What makes you think she is 1yr old? If she is considerably older, she likely won't lay or will only lay occasionally.

I have no Idea how old she is, We've had her about 3 years and she was a good layer when she was abandoned in our yard!
