Hello!

I'm Kim and I am a new chicken mama--just six months now. I have three chickens, a Rhode Island Red(Clove), A Black Australorp (Ellie Mae) and a Plymouth Barred Rock (Arugula--Rue). They've been laying just about every day for about five weeks now. I find hanging out with them very relaxing and call it my chicken meditation time. I am charmed by their individual personalities and amused by their antics. I also find being a chicken mama a bit anxiety producing, though, because I want them to be happy, healthy and safe. I want to take the very best care of them. I found this site because I was looking for plans to build a bigger and better chicken coop. I'm happy to be joining everyone!

G’Day from down under Kim :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Hi! Glad you took the plunge & joined us! Is that a Plymouth Barred Rock in your Avatar? Love that breed. I'm so busy that the chickens are about the only thing that makes me stop and simply watch....They are definitely interesting creatures that can pull your focus away from the everyday. Congrats to you for discovering that - it's a blessing!
