Hi Everyone!
Just want to introduce myself, my name is Deana and I have learned SOO much from this site and am so grateful to everyone out there that shares their stories and takes the time to answer questions and share their wisdom!
I grew up on a farm with chickens, my job was to collect the eggs and we had this mean ol' roo that would chase me and bite me when I went to collect every day, soo...I wasn't sure I would ever have chickens as an adult. But I do, and I LOVE them.
I live in a city so I had to design and build a 100 sq foot "bump out" to house my hens, I then built a raised coop with nesting boxes and roosts, then I purchased two hens and it's been an adventure ever since. Ive learned a lot through trial and error, books, this site and Pioneer magazine. So I'm almost a year in and starting to finally get a BASIC handle on things :) Again I want to thank everyone for all they do to contribute to this site!

:frowW E L C O M E to B Y C, the friendliest forum on the net. :frow My first experience with a rooster was when I was 9. A rooster chased me across my grandmas yard until I was able to jump up on a picnic table to get away from it. I was yelling for help as it was circling the table to get me. Grandma quickly rescued me.
