Hello! I'm new to this community, I have decided to join this little group as I have recently adopted my own flock and have been unable to find anything online that has made any sense, the internet is all fake news! I was wondering if when my chickens lay eggs (the purple ones not the red ones) if I should gather them before the hen gets attached to them? I know I don't need to be concerned about that with the red ones because those eggs get rejected, although I still have to grab them quickly before the flock stomps on them.

Hello and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us.

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3 I’d suggest including your location using the guide in the link. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
I, too, am confused about your reference to purple and red. Regardless, hens don't just 'get attached' to their eggs. Either their hormones dictate they will become broody and start to collect a clutch of eggs or they will lay their eggs and be on their way. Additionally, the rest of the flock should not stomp on the eggs. They will all lay their eggs in the same box(es) typically without damaging any of the eggs.
