Hi my name is Stephanie and I've had chickens for about 9 months. I've always loved them and with the help of my bestie we convinced our hubs to let's us get chickens. They live at my house because she lives in town and we have an ordinance against livestock and chickens. We currently have 23 hens, a rooster, 15 chicks 3 Pekins and 2 kahaki Campbell ducklings. I have 2 kids 13 (big red) and 8 (little red). They have taken to the chickens more than I thought they would. They race each other to collect eggs. Little Red adopted a half grown pullet from a farm I was adopting 3 hens from. He and she have the strangest relationship. She rides around on his shoulder even though she has long out grown sitting there comfortably. She is just a barnyard mix EE. Big Red doesn't currently have a favorite. We have all sorts of breeds brahmas, barred rock, production reds, silver and gold spangled Hamburg, amerucauna, EE, buff laced polish, gold and silver wyndotts, brown and white leghorns, a Delaware, RIR and a speckled susex. Really we just like having the colorful eggs. I'm sure I've forgotten a few of the breeds.
