Hello everyone! I’m new to raising chickens, I got my flock back in April and have steadily been figuring things out as we go. I have 8 chickens and 6 ducks, all are roughly the same age. I have 3 pekin, 3 mallard, 2 bantams, a foghorn leghorn, a Brahma, an australorp, a New Hampshire red, a production red and an isa brown. I get a lot of enjoyment out of tending and spending time with my flock, I’ve always wanted to raise chickens, my grandparents did it when I was younger. Other hobbies would include painting, decorating, boating and spending time on the lake. We live on a lake here in Kentucky. Aside from our flock, our household includes my husband and I, our 13 year old son, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 fish and a tarantula. I currently work as a nurse for an agency, so I do a little traveling. I found BYC through google. Every time I had a question it would always lead me here. I’ve learned a lot from other owners and am happy to now be a member.
