Hello! We are a team of farmers that love to learn information and experienced advice!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
- We are semi new to chickens and other poultry.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
- We currently have 1 rooster, 2 Turkeys, and 6 Guinea Fowl.

(3) What breeds do you have?
- Chickens: Brahma Leghorn
- Turkeys: Narraganset and Bronze
- Guineas: Pearls

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
- Love seeing the large personality in such a small common bird. We love our birds!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
- Woodworking, Animal Training, Animal Education

(6) Anything else you'd like to share.
- We are a historic farm located in central Virginia that is part of a public park. We have more animals than just poultry, however poultry information can be hard to find. All of our animals are used in education programs as ambassadors for what would be common for a working farm in the late 1700-1800s.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
- Internet search when trying to find information about chickens.
- Have never heard about BYC until today.
- Decided to join to find information about raising poultry as they are very different to other animals on the farm.

Welcome to BYC! Wow with all of that livestock your compost area must be full of life for your chicken to find. Chicken love compost to supplement their feed. Most likely in the 1700-1900's most folk never caged or penned their chicken as most heirloom breeds feed themselves from your scraps, compost and whatever they could scratch out of the grass and grass itself. :frow Good choice on the Brahma as they are a heirloom breed.
