Hello!

Thanks all!

Ask these folks about making you coop predator proof, for the health of the birds, and welcome home to BYC.
We are mostly predator proof now. We went through a time where the coons got a couple, but being diligent and beefing up the fencing down low pretty much eliminated that from happening again.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Have you looked at shed to coop conversions? That is what I did and it worked out very well.
We built our coop from scratch, otherwise we may have considered it.

Hi and welcome to BYC! It's so nice to meet you! :frow
You have a really cute coop, but it looks kinda small for that many chickens? Do they all stay in the one coop?
The oldest chickens do stay in it, but some do not. They've never really gone into the roosting area and just sleep outside. If the weather is bad they will go under coop. There is another coop, a small one like you may get from Walmart or Tractor Supply behind the main one, but it was for the newest chicks and isn't a permanent fixture.

With the latest chick additions we're going to look at adding another covered roosting area and expanding their ranging area. With the cancellation of the kid's extra curricular activities we might actually have time to make these improvements.
